When Högsby Municipality acquired and implemented Freja Organisation ID as a service eID for their employees there were a number of crucial points the decision was based on. Cost, flexibility and security are always important – but the decrease in the required administration was crucial when it came to choosing Freja OrgID. This is something we have seen reflected time and again with other customers who also chose Freja OrganisationID.

Jonas Högquist, who was in charge of the change and was the role of Information Security & Development Strategist at Högsby Municipality at the time, emphasised this point in particular when asked about the choice of employee eID:

Freja’s Organisation ID was, at least for me, really a matter of simplicity and flexibility without having to make sacrifices on the security side of things.

Compared to other eIDs both Freja+ and Freja OrgID require minimal administration, and for what little is required the individual employee is able to handle 99% of it themselves. If the employee has Freja, the personal eID, and an active AD account with the organisation in question, there are really only a few steps that need to be taken, all of which the employee can do themselves, to issue their OrgID. Honestly, I don’t think it takes more than a minute to do.

It’s even easier to revoke the employee’s eID when they leave the organisation, as this is handled automatically. Given that the employee eID is tied to the employee’s AD account, and this is revoked automatically when employment ends, the employee eID itself is also automatically revoked upon termination of employment.

Much like Malmö City, Högsby Municipality saw that Freja’s Organisation ID could be used in the future to implement what is known as keyless home care. By doing so, the administration required for key handling and granting entry to users’ homes, which is otherwise both time and resource intensive, can be drastically reduced. Here, Freja OrgID’s support for shared devices plays no small part, as staff within the health and social care services overwhelmingly use shared, or as they are sometimes known by another name, pooled devices.

It should also be added that both the activation and revocation of OrganisationID has been set up with Svensk e-identitet, whom we use as our IdP in Högsby Municipality. However, installing this was incredibly simple, and it only took a few minutes to implement.

William Blomquist, currently the Sales Manager for OrgID at Freja, worked at Svensk e-identitet at the time and was responsible for the deal with Högsby Municipality:

We see that many organisations really value a service like Freja OrgID that barely requires any administration, yet solves a lot of the daily problems they face while also increasing security within and across the organisation.
