Why a Digital Press Card?

Moving the traditionally used plastic card into the smartphone is not only a safer solution that grants more control, it is also more sustainable and financially beneficial.

It makes it easier for you, as a journalist or photographer, to obtain the press card yourself, wherever you may find yourself, without needing to pick it up physically.

How Your Digital Press Card Works

Your digital press card will be issued to you by your union. It will be in the form of a digital card in the Freja mobile application.

Whenever you need to use it, simply open Freja and show your digital press card to prove who you are.

Your digital press card will contain all relevant professional information, as well as a QR code with your personnummer.

Please note that you will need to register a Freja account before your union can issue you your digital press card.

How to check a digital OrgID-card

You can check a Freja OrgID card in two different ways

1. App to app.

The controller needs to have the Freja app on their phone and at least have registered a Freja account with a verified email address. The user opens their OrgID card in Freja and shows the controller the QR code. The controller scans the QR code with their Freja app and then both should receive the same three-digit control code.

2. Via control portal

The controller needs a browser and goes to https://checkorgid.frejaeid.com/ and enters the user’s personnummer. The user must have their OrgID card in Freja open in the app when the check takes place. The same three-digit control code must then be displayed in the control portal and the user’s app.

About Freja and Registration

What is Freja?

Freja is a free mobile e-ID (electronic identity) that is state approved. It is used for identification online, but also in the physical world via its digital ID card.

You can learn more about Freja on our end user website.

How to register in Freja?

To be able to get your digital press card, you will need to have Freja+, which is the highest level of security in Freja.

You can do this from the comfort of your home by using your Swedish passport or national ID card.
