The Public Health Agency of Sweden – Folkhälsomyndigheten – has joined Freja eID+ through the Valfrihetssystem 2017 for electronic identification. Several authorities, regions and municipalities have already been connected via this procurement method.

The procurement system Valfrihetssystem (freedom of choice system) works so that citizens control which e-ID should be used when accessing public services, and thus which supplier should be paid by the contracting authority for identification. The public sector can choose to procure e-ID directly, via framework agreements and through Valfrihetssystem. To date, some eighty authorities, municipalities and regions have agreed to join Freja eID, some of whom have joined via the Valfrihetssystem administered by DIGG – the Digital Administration Authority.

Johan Henrikson, CEO Verisec comments:
“Freja eID + has been widely established as an e-ID in the public sector and it is makes sense for our public sector organisations to offer citizens Sweden’s only mobile e-ID that holds the official quality mark “Svensk e-legitimation”. The onboarding rate of new customers is high, especially among the municipalities, and when an authority such as the Public Health Agency comes on board, it can hopefully contribute to the connection rate among authorities coming up to the same level.”
