The IT security company Verisec has through Nordic integration partners advanced the positions of its internationally scalable electronic identity Freja eID in the Nordic region. Resurs Bank is the first actor on the Norwegian market to link up with the e-identification service Freja eID.

At the end of May this year, Verisec announced that it establishes Freja eID on the Norwegian market. Now, less than three months since its inception in Norway, the e-identification service is active with its first connected customer Resurs Bank. Freja eID is a Swedish e-ID where the solution is not built around Swedish personal identity numbers, which makes it internationally scalable. With integration partners operating in Norway, this creates prerequisites for Nordic based Resurs Bank, which is already integrated with Freja eID in Sweden, to have the same solution for e-identification in both countries. Initially, Freja eID can be used to log in to www.resursbank.no, at a later stage, the bank’s customers will also be able to make electronic signatures with Freja eID in order to approve payment transactions and agreements, for example.

Freja eID meets European Commission Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) for strong customer authentication (SCA) and their criteria for two-factor authentication (2FA).

Joakim Wallin, Head of Cards Nordic, Resurs Bank comments:
“We want to be where the customers are and with Freja eID we can offer our customers an additional option of e-identification service. In addition to receiving a standardized identity service, this contributes to a positive shopping experience where customers can shop safely, quickly and easily both online and in-store.”

Johan Henrikson, CEO Verisec comments:
”With Freja eID we can offer a homogeneous identity solution for international companies and we are extremely pleased that Resurs Bank, with about 6 million private customers in the Nordic region, has embraced our internationally scalable e-ID. We also see that, combined with the possibility of better customer and user experience, increased security, compliance with rules and reduced costs, can be an incentive for more Norwegian and Nordic players to consider Freja eID as an identity solution.”
