Only Swedish e-ID Approved for both Personal and Workplace Use

Freja is the only Swedish e-ID approved for use both privately and in organisations and the workplace (via Freja’s Organisation ID).

This makes it ideal for public sector organisations, regulated industries, and cross-border identity authentication.

When Public Authorities in Sweden Must Offer Freja

Government Authorities

Since 1 January 2026, all government authorities are required to offer all e-identification solutions connected to the Authorisation System. This requirement applies to personal e-identification and does not include organisational or professional e-IDs.

Public Organisations

On 23 January 2026, a legislative proposal was also presented stating that all public and publicly funded organisations must support all approved e-identification solutions if e-identification is required for access to their services.

The proposed law is scheduled to enter into force on 1 December 2026. Read more here.
